Ideas and hashtag sets

Start a post from a prompt, and keep the hashtags you use most one click away.

Ideas

Open Ideas in the composer's right rail when you know you want to post but not what. Each idea is a prompt with a starting line, grouped by kind: educational, storytelling, thought leadership and more. For example:

  • Answer a question you keep getting. If three people have asked you the same thing this month, that's a post.
  • The thing that didn't work. What did you try that flopped, and why do you think it went wrong?
  • Teach one thing, step by step. Pick one skill you've gotten good at and walk through it.

Pick one to drop its starting line into the editor, or search for one by name. Pick another idea shuffles, and Dismiss idea hides one you'll never use.

Hashtag sets

A hashtag set is a named group of up to 30 tags you use together, like "Launch week" or "Hiring". Sets belong to the workspace, so everyone uses the same ones.

Create a set

Open Hashtags in the right rail and choose New hashtag set. Give it a name and add the tags, with or without the #.

Use a set

Click a set to add its tags to the end of the post. Tags already in the post are skipped, and the network's limit holds: on Instagram only the first five go in.

Each network's rules

NetworkHashtags
InstagramAt most 5 on a feed post or Reel. Instagram refuses 6 or more. Stories publish no caption, so tags there are dropped.
ThreadsOne topic per post. Set it in the Topic field; without one, the first #word becomes the topic.
XNo hard cap. X recommends two at most. They count toward the character limit.
LinkedInNo cap. A few specific ones, at the end, work best.
BlueskyThey link to search and power custom feeds. They count toward the 300-character limit.
MastodonWith no algorithmic feed, hashtags are how people beyond your followers find a post.
YouTubeThe first three show above the title. Over 60 and YouTube ignores all of them.
FacebookClickable, but they do little for a Page's reach. One or two at most.
PinterestSearch reads a Pin's title and description, so keywords matter more than tags.

Write multi-word tags in capitals, like #BuildInPublic, so screen readers can read them.
