Approvals
Ask teammates to sign a post off before it goes live, and decide whether that review can stop it publishing.
An approval request asks one or more reviewers to look at a post. You decide whether their answer is required before it publishes, or just a heads-up.
Approval workflows are part of the Advanced plan.
Request an approval
In the composer, open Info and choose Add approval.
Pick the reviewers, and add a message for them if you like.
Set how the review works:
- This is a blocking approval. On: the post won't publish until it's approved. Off: the request is informational, and the post publishes on schedule whatever happens.
- All reviewers must approve the post. On: every reviewer has to approve, and with a blocking approval a single rejection stops it. Off: one approval is enough.
- Publish as soon as it's approved. On: the post goes out the moment it's approved, whatever time is on it. Off: it waits for its scheduled time.
Save. Reviewers are emailed, and notified in the app and in Slack if you've connected it.
When members need approval
On the Advanced plan, members can't publish on their own. Their Post now and Schedule buttons become Request approval, and every post they want out carries a blocking approval. A reviewer doesn't have to be named: anyone who can approve can pick it up. Managers, admins and owners publish directly.
Review a post
Reviewers see posts waiting for them in the Needs approval column of the planner and in their notifications. Open one to read it, comment on it or suggest edits, then:
- Approve it. If it's scheduled, it publishes at its time. If its author wanted it out now, it publishes as soon as you approve.
- Request changes, with an optional note on what needs changing. The post moves to Needs revision, and your note is added to its comments.
Reviewers can also approve or reject straight from a Slack message.
Scheduling a post that's still under review
You can schedule a post before it's approved. The composer asks you to confirm first, because scheduling doesn't approve it:
- With a blocking approval, the post publishes at its time only if it's approved by then. If the time passes with the review still open, it comes back as a draft for you to re-time.
- With a non-blocking approval, it publishes on time either way.
Change or remove an approval
From Info, choose Edit approval to change the reviewers or the settings, resend the email, or Reset approval to start the review over. Managers, admins and owners can Mark approved or Mark rejected on a reviewer's behalf, or remove the approval altogether.
Campaigns
A campaign that Orb generated is approved as a whole. Approving it schedules all its posts at their times; rejecting it sends them back to drafts.
