Analytics

How your posts and channels are doing, what's working, and when your audience is listening.

Analytics in the sidebar shows how your posts and channels are performing, across every network or one at a time.

The numbers

MetricWhat it counts
ImpressionsTimes your posts were shown. On YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Threads this is views. Bluesky and Mastodon don't report it.
EngagementsLikes, comments, reposts, quotes and saves added together.
Engagement rateEngagements as a share of impressions.
Link clicks and profile clicksWhere the network reports them.
Video viewsPlays, on networks that count them apart from reach (LinkedIn video).
FollowersEach channel's follower count, and the change.

A blank means the network didn't report that number, not that it was zero.

Two kinds of total appear on the page, and they answer different questions:

  • Totals and top posts cover posts published in the window, each post's channels added together.
  • Charts over time count engagement received each day, by posts of any age, so an old post going viral shows up on the day it happened.

The page

  • Trends for each metric over the window, with a comparison against the period before, the same period last year, or none.
  • Top posts, ranked by the metric you pick. Open one to see its numbers day by day and how it compares with the channel's other posts at the same age.
  • Best network and a breakdown by network, by post format (text, image, video, carousel and so on) and by what each post is about.
  • What's working: the strongest patterns in the window's posts, by format, length, opening line, weekday, time of day, links, hashtags, questions and tags. Each post is judged against its own channel's typical post, so a pattern is never just the bigger channel winning.
  • Followers gained each day, and followers by channel.
  • Best times to post, from when your posts have done best, once there are enough of them.
  • Posting activity and your posting streak.
  • Orb AI's analysis: a written read of the last 28 days, with what to do more of and what to change.

Filter by Range, Channels, Campaign, Tags and Whose posts. Filters are kept in the address, so you can share a view with a teammate.

How often the numbers update

Each post's numbers are read often on its first day, then daily, then weekly, for 90 days after it goes out. Follower counts are read four times a day. The "Updated" note at the top says when the page last changed; open it for each channel's collection status, including anything holding a channel up:

  • Paused: reconnect this channel: the network stopped accepting our sign-in.
  • Paused: the network's rate limit: the network asked us to slow down; it resumes on its own.
  • This LinkedIn profile was connected before Orbitwrite could read its analytics: reconnect it to start.

Some networks have their own rules:

  • X posts are read five times over their first 30 days, and X follower counts once a day, because X charges for every read, and each X account has a daily cap on reads.
  • LinkedIn is read on a lighter schedule, because LinkedIn gives every app a small daily allowance, and LinkedIn numbers are kept for a year.
  • YouTube numbers are re-checked every three weeks for as long as they're kept, as YouTube's policies require.

How far back you can look

Standard shows 30 days of history; Pro and Advanced show a year. See Plans and billing.

Campaign reports

Every campaign has its own analytics: totals, its best posts, a breakdown by network and format, how far through the campaign you are, and Orb's read on how it's going.
