Manage channels
Pick your primary channel, choose the defaults for new posts, reconnect, and disconnect.
Everything here lives in Settings → Channels. Click a channel to open its own settings page.
Primary channel
The primary channel leads the account row in the composer. When a post goes to several channels, the others copy the primary's text and media until you unsync them.
To change it, open the channel's ⋯ menu and choose Make primary.
Default channels for new posts
Tick the channels you want selected every time someone opens the composer. You can still add or remove channels on any post. Owners, admins and managers can change the defaults.
A channel's own settings
Each channel's page has:
- Posting goal: how many times a week you want to post from it.
- Timezone: the zone its schedule times are shown and set in.
- Schedule: the times of the week it publishes at. See Posting schedule.
- Link tracking: whether its links get your tracking parameters, its own, or none. See Links.
Reconnect a channel
A channel shows Reconnect needed when the network stops accepting our access: you changed your password, revoked the app, the network expired the sign-in, or a permission was added that the old sign-in doesn't have. You're told by email and in the app's notifications. Until you reconnect, posts due on that channel can't publish: they come back to Draft with a note asking you to reconnect, so you can reschedule them afterwards.
Choose Reconnect from its ⋯ menu and sign in again. It's the same channel afterwards, with its posts, schedule and settings intact. See Reconnecting channels.
Paused channels
If a workspace has more channels than its plan covers (after a downgrade, for example), the extra ones are paused, not removed. A paused channel stays connected, but nothing publishes to it: its scheduled posts are held and go out once the channel is active again. A post held for more than a week past its time is marked failed.
Owners, admins and managers choose which channels the plan covers: choose Make active on the one you want to use. Or move to a plan that covers them all.
Disconnect a channel
Choose Disconnect from the channel's ⋯ menu. Orbitwrite stops posting to it, and its posts and drafts stay, so you can reconnect later and pick up where you left off.
Tick Also delete this channel's posts and drafts to remove the channel from the workspace entirely. This can't be undone, and connecting it again later starts fresh.
Disconnecting doesn't delete anything you already published. Those posts stay live on the network.
