What Buffer does well
I used Buffer for many years, and it’s a well-made product. Over time Serge and I wanted our scheduler to do more, and that’s when we decided to build Orbitwrite. Buffer is still the better pick for one person posting to a couple of channels, and for anyone who needs Pinterest, Google Business Profile or a free plan.
Jamie Barton, co-founder
- A free plan with three channels and 10 scheduled posts on each.
- Low per-channel pricing for one person: Essentials is $5 a channel a month, billed yearly.
- Pinterest, Google Business Profile and Substack Notes as channels.
- iOS and Android apps, and Canva inside the composer.
- A replies and mentions inbox across ten networks, on every plan.
How to switch from Buffer
- 1
Connect your channels
Start a 10-day trial and connect the accounts you post to from Buffer.
- 2
Set your posting slots
Give each channel its posting times, the same idea as Buffer's queue. New posts drop into the next free slot.
- 3
Bring your queue across
Re-create upcoming posts in the composer, or script it: Buffer's API lists your queue and Orbitwrite's API, SDK or CLI schedules it.
- 4
Let Buffer's queue run out
Keep Buffer running until its last scheduled post goes out, then cancel.
