LinkedIn

Post to your LinkedIn profile and the company pages you manage.

Connect

Choose LinkedIn under Settings → Channels → Connect and sign in. Orbitwrite lists your profile and every page you're an admin of, all ticked; untick any you don't want, then connect. Each becomes its own channel.

To add a page later, connect LinkedIn again: the list shows any you haven't added.

What you can post

  • Text posts, with the "…see more" point marked in the composer so you can see what shows before the fold.
  • Images, up to nine, or one video.
  • A PDF document, shown as a swipeable carousel. A document replaces other attachments.
  • Reshares of an existing post, by pasting its link.
  • Mentions of people and companies.

Inbox, analytics and engagement

  • Inbox: comments and mentions on company pages. LinkedIn doesn't let new apps read comments on a member's own posts, so profiles aren't included.
  • Analytics: impressions, reactions, comments, reposts and clicks per post, video views on video posts, and follower history. A profile connected before Orbitwrite could read analytics needs reconnecting once.
  • Auto-engagement: a first comment from the posting account. LinkedIn's terms treat automated likes, reshares and comments from other accounts as artificial engagement.

Good to know

  • Outside links reduce reach. Many teams put the link in a first comment instead, with auto-engagement.
  • Ideal length. LinkedIn's guidance favours posts of 1,200 to 2,000 characters; the post score checks against it.
  • Page admin. If you stop being an admin of a page, its channel needs reconnecting by someone who is.
  • Stored content. LinkedIn lets apps keep comments for 48 hours after reading them; older inbox conversations are re-read from LinkedIn when you open them.
