# Telegram

> Post to a Telegram channel or group through our bot.

Telegram has no sign-in for apps. Instead, you add our bot to your channel and prove the channel is yours.

## Connect

1. Choose **Telegram** under **Settings → Channels → Connect**. Orbitwrite shows the bot's name.
2. **Add the bot to your channel.** Open your channel in Telegram, tap its name, go to **Administrators → Add Admin**,
   search for the bot, turn on **Post Messages**, and save. For a group, adding the bot as a member is enough.
3. **Tell us which channel**, by its `@username`. We check the bot is in it and can post.
4. **Prove it's yours.** Orbitwrite shows a short code. In Telegram, edit the channel, paste the code on a new line in
   its **Description**, and save. Then come back and confirm. You can remove the code afterwards.

The code is needed because the bot is shared by every Orbitwrite workspace: without it, anyone could connect your
channel.

Text posts, link previews, and up to ten images or videos, or a GIF.

## Good to know

Private chats with the bot can't be connected; Orbitwrite posts to channels and groups.
