# Threads

> Chain several posts together on X, Bluesky, Mastodon and Threads.

A thread is a run of posts published one after another as replies to the first. Orbitwrite publishes threads
natively on the networks that have them:

| Network | Threads |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| X | Yes |
| Bluesky | Yes |
| Mastodon | Yes |
| Threads | Yes |

## Write a thread

Choose **Add post** in the toolbar under a post to add the next one. Each post has its own character counter, its
own media, and on X its own poll.

There's no limit on the number of posts in a thread.

## Turn a long post into a thread

Write the whole thing as one post. When it runs past the network's limit, a **Create thread** button appears beside
the counter: it asks Orb to break the text into posts that fit, at natural break points. Edit the result as much as
you like before scheduling. See [AI assistant](https://orbitwrite.com/docs/guides/composer/ai-assistant).

## Links in threads

On X, a link in the first post of a thread reduces how many people see it. When the first post carries a link, the
composer offers **Move link to reply**, which moves it into a reply under the post. See [Links](https://orbitwrite.com/docs/guides/composer/links).
