# AI assistant (Orb)

> Draft, rewrite, translate and split posts with Orb, in your brand voice, and let it act on your workspace.

Orb is the assistant built into Orbitwrite. It writes in your workspace's [brand voice](https://orbitwrite.com/docs/guides/workspace/brand-voice),
knows each network's limits, and never publishes anything without you.

## Refine selected text

Select some text in the editor and choose **Refine with AI**, or press the sparkle button on a post. Pick an action:

- **Improve**, **Rewrite**, **Make it punchier**, **Shorten** or **Expand**
- **Fix spelling and grammar** (applied straight away)
- **Change tone**: professional, casual, bold, friendly, thought leader or playful
- **Translate** into English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean or Chinese
- **Add a call to action** or **Add hashtags**
- **Split into a thread** when a post is too long for the network
- Or type your own instruction, such as "drop the emoji and make the second line shorter"

Orb shows its suggestion before anything changes. Choose **Replace current** to swap it in, or **Insert** to add it
beside what you wrote.

## The Orb panel

Open **Orb AI** in the composer's right rail.

- Type `/` for the preset commands: write a post from a topic, get ideas or angles, write an announcement, turn a
  link into a post, or optimize what you've written for a network.
- Or just ask in your own words. Orb can work on the open post (rewrite it, split it, give it a title and tags,
  schedule it) and on the rest of the workspace (find posts, check the schedule, read analytics, leave a comment).

Anything that changes or removes something waits for you: Orb shows what it's about to do, with **Allow** and
**Deny**. Reading, commenting and tagging go ahead straight away.

## Variants for each network

When a post goes to several networks, Orb can write a version for each one, fitted to its length and conventions.
Each variant goes into that channel's copy and unsyncs it, so it keeps its own words.

## What Orb won't do

- **Publish or schedule on its own.** Scheduling from the panel always asks you to confirm.
- **Go off-topic.** Orb writes social posts. Ask it for an essay or some code and it writes a post about that
  subject instead.
- **Invent facts about you.** It works from what you give it and your brand voice. Check names, numbers and claims
  before you publish.

## Allowance

Each request to Orb uses one AI assist from your plan's monthly allowance. **Settings → Billing** shows how many are
